Sad to say, but no it’s not. Try yourself to even flex your pinky a little. Can you do it without seeing it? No. Magicians use psychology to make you look elsewhere when something sneaky occurs, called “misdirection.

It’s up his sleeves.
The common response when something disappears. Except for a select few specialists, very few magicians actually pitch objects up their sleeves. It’s actually harder than you might think. Just try tossing a penny up your sleeve without missing and then try to make it imperceptible!

I wouldn’t want to play cards with him.
The skills used in cheating at card games and ones used for card tricks are usually completely different. Gambling sleights must appear natural and ordinary. Card trick sleights can be weird and flashy looking to show off the magician’s skill. If a gambler did that they would be shot.

It’s all done with mirrors and/or wires.
Except for a few specialized applications very few tricks even big stage illusions rely on these methods because they are tricky to light properly. Especially in “real world” settings like in someone’s living room it’s hard to anticipate exact sight lines and lighting conditions.

Magicans use trick decks.
Yes, there are a few “trick” decks that accomplish wonderous things, but by and large 99% of all card tricks are done with a standard deck. One, because audiences know of trick cards. Two, because being able to do twenty tricks with a regular deck is better than carrying around twenty decks that each do one trick.

I can never be a good magician.
Nonsense, magic like archery or swimming is a learned skill. It just takes some practice, study, and real world performance to hone your skills. Check out the tricks section for some cool stuff to get you started.
